Pueblo Viejo is a mine located in the Dominican Republic, approximately 100 kilometers northwest of the capital city of Santo Domingo. The project had a peak construction workforce of 7,800 comprised of 17 nationalities.  It is the largest foreign investment in the history of the Dominican Republic. The site preparation for the project included earthworks, road construction, demolition of derelict buildings and infrastructure, and repair of pre-existing environmental conditions. The site consists of a range of service and supply buildings, including electrical, welding, and vehicle maintenance shops. The mine site also includes housing, medical facilities, recreation halls, laundries, kitchens, and dining halls for the mine staff.

Spire’s consultants assisted a contractor by preparing claims, and quantifying schedule delays and damages that occurred during the construction and installation of water pipelines and processing facilities.
