Final Assembly Building of the Boeing Charleston Expansion Project
The $750 million Final Assembly Building of the Boeing Charleston Expansion project, located in North Charleston, South Carolina, consists of 780,000 square feet and includes a central utility plant and 610,000 square feet of production with additional mezzanine support. The facility is used for the final assembly of Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner and achieved LEED® Silver Certification status. Spire assisted a subcontractor with the preparation of a Change Order Request (COR) to substantiate issues and costs related to the construction of the project. Spire’s consultants performed a document analysis, cost analysis, and windows schedule analysis to identify and quantify the delays and acceleration incurred during the project. Spire’s analysis helped the subcontractor identify the actions and inactions of other parties that resulted in additional costs to the subcontractor, which proved they were entitled to an increase in contract price.
