Project Detail

“Spire Consulting Group was brought on board in Phase III of Siemens’ Project Planning and Scheduling Initiative. In Phases I and II, the Building Technologies Division in Hayward, CA implemented and taught project managers Microsoft Project, a scheduling software. With the basics of the software understood, Siemens’ next step was to gain a better understanding of the principles, processes, and techniques of project planning and scheduling. Phase II of the initiative was a 2-day training program executed by Spire Consulting Group. The training program worked within Siemens’ current processes and procedures in order to ensure a successful product. Leadership interviews and preliminary participant surveys gave Spire the necessary information to develop content that would be easy to incorporate to Siemens’ existing program. Twelve sessions and several participant exercises were developed in order to provide Siemens with the knowledge base to continue the Project Planning and Scheduling Initiative. The training was presented in February of 2016 and focused on the following topics introduction to the scheduling lifecycle; project initiation; scheduling planning and developing reasonable baseline schedules; Cost and resource loading schedules; cost management using schedules; completing and using schedule updates; recouping costs, identifying and managing changes; identifying and quantifying acceleration, delays, and disruptions; and as-built schedules. After the training, Spire conducted follow-up one-on-one sessions with each
participant in order to ensure the training was well-received.”
