Spire Employees Advance Company Mission by Volunteering at Capital Area Food Bank of Texas
A group of Spire employees advanced the company’s mission to provide value driven results to the community by volunteering at Capital Area Food Bank of Texas. Alongside other volunteers, the Spire team sorted through canned goods and nonperishable items to separate the good items from the damaged ones. The usable items were then wiped clean and categorized for distribution. The volunteers successfully sorted enough food to provide 5,746 meals.
In addition to furthering the company’s mission, this activity also allowed Spire’s employees to live out one of the company’s core values, Team. At Spire, Team is defined as creating a great place to work, communicating clearly, acknowledging contributions and having fun. This philosophy is not only practiced in the workplace; it is also shared in the company’s approach to community service.
The Capital Area Food Bank of Texas is the largest hunger relief organization in Central Texas. They provide food and grocery products to nearly 300 partner agencies in 21 counties across Central Texas. Their partners are then able to distribute the items to over 600 programs including grocery, meal and other programs.
