aba midwinter meeting

Spire’s construction claims and litigation experts recently attended the 2019 American Bar Association (ABA) Forum on Construction Law Midwinter Meeting in Los Angeles, California. The annual event, titled Public Construction Projects: Not Always a Hollywood Ending, took place at downtown Los Angeles’ Millennium Biltmore Hotel. Spire was represented by Managing Principal, Anthony Gonzales, Managing Consultants, Roger Nelson and Kate Hull, and Marketing Director, Tamara Savinas.

During the Midwinter Meeting, Spire co-hosted the unofficial Midwinter After Party, entertaining more than 100 guests at one of Los Angeles’ premier venues, The Novo, located in the L.A. Live district. Taking place after the Meeting’s Welcome Reception and subsequent division dinners, the Midwinter After Party was a late-night event that allowed attendees to unwind at an exclusive Los Angeles setting. Gordon & Rees (GRSM), a national construction law firm, joined Spire in co-hosting the event.

In addition to thanking everyone who stopped by the Spire booth and attended the After Party, we’d also like to congratulate the winner of our Montblanc pen raffle, Dana Smoot of Smoot Construction. Congratulations, Mr. Smoot!

reca knockout night

Upon returning from the Midwinter Meeting, Mr. Gonzales and Ms. Savinas also attended the Real Estate Council of Austin (RECA)’s annual KnockOut Night in downtown Austin, Texas. They were joined by Justin Vogel, Spire Consultant and active member of RECA. RECA KnockOut Night is a black-tie event where A/E/C professionals gather to cheer on their peers as they compete against each other in friendly boxing matches. While the Spire team did not participate in the matches, they had a great time hosting clients at an unforgettable event. RECA KnockOut Night is known for being the “hottest ticket in town” within the Austin A/E/C industry, attracting more than 1,800 individuals for a night of boxing, casino-style gaming and more.
