Spire Consulting Group Goes to the Hive
“Now that construction has been underway for about a year, the California High-Speed Rail Authority is beginning to spend its billions — and small businesses are swarming in to get their share of the project. […] The high-speed rail authority has a commitment to spend 30 percent of its money with small businesses and a budget of $21 billion to build the first operating segment between San Jose and Bakersfield. […] That adds up to hundreds of millions worth of “honey” for small businesses like Spire […]”
The Silicon Valley Business Journal interviewed one of Spire’s Associate Principals, David Mastrandrea, about Spire’s interest in the project. Mr. Mastrandrea stated “I do feel sort of like a honeybee going to the hive,” in reference to the breadth of opportunity available with the California High-Speed Rail Authority. In addition, Mr. Mastrandrea attended a small business workshop hosted by the California High-Speed Rail Authority in mid-August. The workshop was hosted in order to help Small and Disadvantaged businesses connect with large contractors, subcontractors, and government officials in regards to the project, learn about potential contracting opportunities, and talk with certification experts about the Small, Disadvantaged and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise certifications.
