SPIRE EXPERTS
DELIVER MULTIPLE PRESENTATIONS IN AUSTIN

Spire’s project controls experts Kate Hull, Managing Consultant, and Roberto Leandro, PMP, Consultant, have delivered two thought-leading engagements to A/E/C professionals of Austin, TX over the last few weeks. In addition to speaking at the Austin Bar Association Construction Law Section’s January luncheon, Ms. Hull co-presented with Mr. Leandro at the 2019 Austin Build Expo conference.

Ms. Hull was invited to give a presentation to the Construction Law Section of the Austin Bar Association at its January luncheon. The presentation titled Quantifying Damages for Repair & Remediation Work provided an overview of commonly used methods for quantifying damages. More specifically, Ms. Hull discussed the categories and calculation methods for claiming the cost of correcting work that does not conform with contract documents. Ms. Hull also presented a case study example related to the quantification of damages for remediation work on a medical research and treatment center.

Ms. Hull and Mr. Leandro’s Austin Build Expo session titled Construction Scheduling – Keeping the Project on Track discussed how to properly develop and manage a construction schedule throughout the duration of the project. Specifically, they covered the basics of construction scheduling, including how to perform critical path method (CPM) scheduling, develop a realistic baseline schedule, perform periodic progress updates, and validate schedules. The session was targeted toward owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and government agencies, providing them with a scheduling framework they can use on their respective projects.
