Spire assisted a contractor with the development of claims related to delays, productivity loss, Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) requirements, warranty issues, and changed work. The Frank Howard Memorial Hospital project replaced an existing facility and included the construction of a new 74,100-square foot, 2-story state-of-the-art hospital at an estimated cost of $65 million. The new hospital is more than double the size of the old one, and offers 25 private rooms with bathrooms, state-of-the-art surgical suites, emergency treatment rooms, physical therapy facilities, and medical imaging services. It also features a community garden, farm-to-fork organic restaurant, helipad, and skylights illuminated with light-emitting diode (LED) images that can be configured with cloud formations, blue skies, wildlife, trees, and other images of the four seasons in various spaces throughout the hospital.

Spire’s responsibilities included review and analysis of project documentation, interviews with client personnel, and development of claims related to the issues previously described. Spire’s efforts resulted in the contractor recouping additional costs resulting from these issues.
