Project Overview
A regional healthcare provider engaged Spire Consulting Group to stabilize and complete a multi-phase inpatient hospital expansion after significant project performance issues jeopardized the schedule and overall project success. The project included a new inpatient hospital addition and a 50,000-square-foot renovation of the existing inpatient facility. Following the replacement of the original construction management team, Spire assumed responsibility for leading the project through completion while maintaining uninterrupted hospital operations. Spire assisted Moore County Hospital in maintaining their Joint Commission Accreditation by bringing the new hospital space on-line as their existing hospital was repurposed to lab, rehab and administrative functions.
Client Challenge
The project experienced significant execution challenges under the original construction management team and general contractor, placing the planned opening date for the new inpatient facility at risk. The owner required an experienced construction management partner capable of restoring project controls, coordinating multiple stakeholders, managing active healthcare operations, and delivering the new facility on schedule. Following completion of the addition, the owner also needed leadership to successfully execute multiple renovation phases while evaluating contractor and owner claims related to the project.
